The Corporate Coalition began in 2019 when corporate leaders in Chicago began discussing how the business community could help reduce gun violence by expanding economic opportunity in our region.
Today, the Corporate Coalition of Chicago is an alliance of 50 companies and 27 nonprofit anchor partners who are reducing economic and racial inequities through the power of their business practices. Working together, members challenge business as usual to identify and implement new ways to deploy their capital, capabilities, and employee enthusiasm to help build a thriving region and thriving companies. In doing so, companies embody the idea of “Business UNusual,” a term we coined early on to describe both the mindset and the changes in business practices essential to achieving our goals.
Our members go beyond philanthropy and civic engagement to rethink how to use their economic assets – including jobs, capital investment, and buying power in the region – to promote business success and create a safer, more prosperous and thriving region for everyone.
Today the Corporate Coalition is A Force for Convening and Connecting, A Platform for Inspiring Action, and A Driver of Impact. Read more in the Corporate Coalition's 2024 Impact Report.
